Good morning friends! Our fantastic walkers will be heading into Knysna today and George early next week. There have been lots of festivities planned so pull in to come and meet the champions!
Still going strong
With the end of the walk being a little more than a month away, our champion walkers are making steady progress along the coast. They have been battling some difficult terrain and some wet weather but Mother Nature has not managed to keep them down.
Please have a look at our new photos in the Gallery section and don’t forget to follow the walkers via satellite as well! Go team go!
Kerstin visits the walkers in East London
The Chairperson of AFA, Kerstin van Der Neut, paid a visit to the team of walkers in Buffalo City (East London) over the weekend of 22 April. Kerstin not only met the walkers but walked an amazing 25 km along the beach with them!
Kerstin said she had a great time and it was wondeful to meet all of the walkers. She was a bit stiff for the few days following her adventure – but said that she was very happy to have been a part of the journey. Kerstin and the team also met with the East London Mayor, Councillor Ncitha, who was kind enough to host a tea in their honor.
Please see the “gallery” section for some new pictures which Kerstin took while down at the coast.
After 3 days of hard core walking , we are now off to East london to meet the mayor… With Rosey and her sore back, Melissa wid her sore legs and myself(Nolwazi) wid blisters for AFRICA.
Update from Melissa…
After having a nice rest at Port St. Johns and having an exciting meeting with the Mayor and meeting some of the very vibrant yet laid back locals, we are off to Coffee bay – an interesting town with a few ghost stories and lots of coffee plants. A ship that was carrying coffee beans being shipwrecked on the rocks a long time ago.
On our way we have been scaling cliffs and some of us almost had near death experiences.
The Wild Coast is beautiful and we can’t wait to go pat the Hole in The Wall tomorrow. Melissa
We are currently in Port St. Johns at a local camping site for the next two days, as everyone seems to be suffering from blisters and the flu after walking in the rain. . . so instead we have set up a stand at the local Spar we you can come through to find out more….. (Nolwazi) oh and before I forget its my birthday.. and i would love to thank everyone on the team… especially Paul. . .thanks for the cake ….
